Mantels

Berdoll Sawmill Mantels can be custom milled from any species, with Native Texas Pecan and Mesquite being our most popular.

Our mantels are sawn from locally and sustainably sourced logs in our area. The logs undergo a lengthy air-drying process that typically lasts one to two years, and are then placed in our computer-controlled kilns for one to three months. After they are pulled from the kiln drying, we flatten one face, plane them to a consistent thickness, straighten the back edge, and cross-cut the ends square. This process produces a quality product that is easy to add finishing touches and mount.

We straighten the back edge and mill to a consistent width for milled edge mantels. The surface finish is such that it allows you to start hand sanding with a 120-grit sandpaper with an orbital sander.
