“The installation of the wood slab went really well and we’re so happy with it. The size and length were perfect, and it fit right up against the wall with no gaps. Please thank everyone on the Berdoll Sawmill team for making this happen!!”

“I brought two mesquite slabs to your sawmill to have them flattened and planed to the same thickness. I would like to commend you on how helpful and polite the two employees we dealt with were. Ms. Hagen and Austin could not have been any nicer to my wife, daughter, and granddaughter. Austin did an excellent job on the slabs for me as well.

To many times people complain about the least little things and never recognize good service and a job well done. I think it is important to let the owner know when their employees take pride in their work, and the way they treat a customer, and all I have to say is those are two young people you should be proud to have working for you. I will be back the next time I need anything.”

“I really enjoyed seeing the selection of slabs and seeing the 100″ jointer, which I asked to see because I had read about it on your website. Shopping for a slab was a very enjoyable experience. I know we are a small customer and you made us feel like an important customer.”

“Thanks so much to Austin and the whole Berdoll Sawmill team!!! Great job! We have had some challenges with skilled trades during this rebuild. It’s kind of crazy down here in Houston. So nice to work with you guys on this project and receive such a professionally experience and result. It’s not a lot of fun losing all your stuff and having to demo your whole house and start over after a flood. But – this is a great feeling to add something so beautiful back into this home we have been laboring on for 8 months. With genuine sincerity, thank you.”

“Sydney, we thoroughly enjoyed working with you, having discussed what we were looking for, and helping us find the right slab to meet our needs. You were a tremendous help.” …

“[Our Pecan slab] turned out beautiful and matches the pecan in our kitchen cabinets perfectly. Thank you, again, for your help. We have already mentioned to many of our friends and family about our experience working with you and Berdoll Sawmill.”

“Just wanted to write a note of appreciation to you and your staff for another great experience at Berdoll Sawmill. We had a great time picking out our lumber and seeing all the wonderful slabs you have in stock. I could have stayed all day.

I also want to speak a word of appreciation to you for the outstanding quality of your lumber. I am an experienced woodworker and furniture maker. I’ve also had experience in sawing logs into lumber and properly drying it. The lumber from Berdoll Sawmill is a joy and pleasure to work. The procedures you follow in first air drying your lumber and then gently finishing it in a kiln produces lumber with no internal stresses. I know personally the horror of ripping a piece of lumber and watching as the saw kerf closes behind the blade. This doesn’t happen with your lumber. The wood I’ve purchased at Berdoll Sawmill is dry and stable. It machines and works so well.

The pecan lumber we purchased today is going to be a blast to work because of the care that went into preparing it. I look forward to my next trip to Bastrop and Berdoll Sawmill. Thanks again for a great day and great service and hospitality.”

“He keeps the quality level of his lumber really high,” says Christian Klein of Drophouse. “I always know it has been properly dried. The live edge slabs in pecan and walnut are flat, and they are ready to finish-sand. Dealing with him is always a pleasure.”

“Brandon Berdoll does an impeccable job of drying pecan, and beyond that, he marks his lumber so that boards from a tree can be tracked.”

Texas Pecan Slab

“We contracted with Brandon to create a two-inch thick pecan slab (about 3 by 4 feet)–to be placed on a tubular metal based and function as a cocktail table. We were looking for a wood artist who could execute in native Texas woods what we hoped would become a piece of furniture art and a family heirloom.

We found that in Brandon. He clearly shares our love for native woods, provided great guidance in selecting the stock; asked many clarifying questions about the look, finish and use we were intending; suggested using black walnut for the butterfly keys we requested and gave us a project timeline that included progress checks and approvals. He (with his artistic understudy) proceeded to execute the job magnificently–exactly as we envisioned–and adhered to the timeline.

We couldn’t be more pleased with the skill and careful attention they brought to the challenge nor with the result. We do not hesitate to recommend them to others.”

“I can’t say enough good things about Brandon and his work. We were looking for a custom island top that was both rustic and refined. After visiting Brandon at his mill, we were blown away by his kindness, knowledge, and the quality of his work. He worked with us to understand the exact look we wanted, and then he selected the perfect pieces of wood to create the island top we described. Since we weren’t sure if we wanted to use oil or a stronger sealer on the island top, he was flexible with us and agreed to prepare the top to the final sanding, so that we could seal it ourselves.

His prices are more than fair, and we received the island top earlier than expected. Would not have any reservations recommending Brandon and without hesitation, would use him for any future wood-related business.”

“Berdoll Sawmill is a wonderful company to do business with. My husband and I were looking for an unusual piece of furniture for our wedding anniversary and we are thrilled with the finished product. We’ve gotten so many compliments on it. Brandon Berdoll has a most interesting place filled with gorgeous pieces of wood. He took lots of time with us as we walked around asking many questions. Brandon is very knowledgeable about the different woods and has an eye for what will work with your ideas.

I love the fact that the salvaged wood is very old and will be recycled into beautiful furniture. Our pecan table is 168 years old and is documented by a registered consulting arborist. I would highly recommend Berdoll Sawmill & Furniture Co. Brandon is honest, timely and his work is just beautiful. He’s a great guy to work with.”

024 (2)“We purchased a dining table from Berdoll Sawmill & Furniture Co, and are very pleased with the result. The table is 120” X 48” made of book-matched pecan slabs with carved sculpted edges. It has been a true pleasure working with Berdoll Sawmill & Furniture Co. Their attention to detail shows up in all aspects of the table. Every person that comes into our home comments on the beauty. Our table came with a letter of authenticity signed by a Registered Consulting Arborist which states that the table is from a 168 year old pecan tree that died of natural causes in 2007.”

“Now this place was VERY IMPRESSIVE. The owner – Brandon Berdoll, was really a neat guy, both figuratively and literally. The place so well organized it was incredible, but not nearly as incredible as his lumber and slabs. Words cannot describe the quality of his pecan and mesquite. The prices were great also.”

October 2010

“I became acquainted with Berdoll Sawmill & Mr. Berdoll when, because of a utility line easement, I was able to provide material for the company. From day one I was impressed with the courteous and professional nature of Mr. Berdoll.

Since that time I have had an opportunity to view his operation and building techniques on multiple occasions. I can say that with his knowledge of his material production and his unwavering commitment to quality his lumber and finished products are without doubt some of the best I have have seen. I have seen his treatment of many customers who bar none have been satisfied with their transactions and services. I would not hesitate to highly recommend the purchase of his material or finished furniture.”
