The Brazos Beauty

This beautiful table was crafted from Native Texas Pecan wood with a single-slab top and trestle base by Berdoll Sawmill. The slab top was salvaged from a 121-year-old Pecan tree that grew along the Brazos River near Waco, Texas and was destroyed by a small tornado. The naturally shaped hole in the table top is inlaid with 1/2 inch thick glass that was carefully cut to match the natural curves of the wood. The trestle base is a Pecan crotch that is constructed with 20 mortise and tenon joints. The joints are pegged and plugged with Texas Ebony that was salvaged from a tree blown down by Hurricane Carla in 1961.

This table, named “The Brazos Beauty”, was entered in the Texas Furniture Maker's Show in Kerrville, Texas where it won 3rd place out of 45 entries and also received the People's Choice Award.

This table is truly one of a kind and lives in Whitsett, Texas.
