To obtain a No. 1 Common Grade, the board must be more than 67% clear on the best face and more than 50% clear on the back face. This grade generally requires a moderate amount of epoxy fill. We remove all sapwood from our Texas Mesquite lumber except for small amounts that will be removed with normal jointing and planing.
