“Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.”

“Founder of Berdoll Sawmill, Brandon Berdoll, shares how he built his business out of a desire to make something from what would otherwise be waste. A drought-stricken Texas left fields of trees dying. While some resolved to tackle this by burning them down, Brandon saw the possibility of new life. And this new creation was something he knew he’d be creating to last for generations.”

“A Visit to a Texas Sawmill” in The Highland Woodturner

I recently took a trip to visit the Berdoll Sawmill & Furniture Company in Cedar Creek, Texas. I have wanted to visit this mill, just outside of Austin, for a long time. I found the mill so interesting that I thought I would share this experience with you. I also hope it encourages you to proactively seek out unique local mills in your area. You might be surprised at what you find.
